I lead an occasionally interesting life filled with adventures and a lot of naps, rarely at the same time. I am simultaneously an emerging business professional/success story and a secretly immature kid at heart. I am an old soul and a modern "hipster", apparently. I am a contradiction, but not.

Let your stalking begin. Expect discussions of coffee, philosophy, music postings and images of the things I am interested in being reblogged because I am too lazy to develop original internet content.

The electoral count and a lot of the mandates passed tonight have really surprised and elated me. We have shown once again that we are motivated to move towards constructive change, rather than shy away from it because it makes us uneasy to embrace the potential for our lives to change in a profound way when it comes with some real risks. We see that even though this road may be uneasy, whether that involves being more active in reviving our economy or changing our policies on marriage and social change, the place that we are headed on this road is much brighter than if we were to stand still or move a few steps back.

Fun fact: He is a murderer and a terrorist. Things aren’t black and white, there are no good guys and bad guys. Just because he’s on our side doesn’t make his actions something that you can brush under the rug or justify in any way.

It doesn’t matter how many innocent people the taliban and similar organizations kill compared to his 16 murders, the fact is he killed 16 innocent civilians and deserves justice. Similarly, the troubled and broken army base that he and a series of other violent soldiers have come out of needs to be investigated heavily. Justice has to be served there as well for the lives of these soldiers and indirectly, the people that they have harmed as well. Several soldiers from this base have committed suicide or committed similar atrocities and war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as back on US soil.

I am so sick of people changing the subject or wanting to ignore this story because it proves that morality and rightness is a spectrum, and the US damn sure does not exist on one extreme end of it or the other. Stop burying your heads in the sand because you don’t like what you may realize by stopping and thinking. Thinking and observing the world around you should not be embraced, as it tragically is today, as a trait of nerds, intellectual snobs and people wasting their time.

This paints no picture of Obama’s plan. He definitely does not seek to equalize wealth. He is not stealing from the rich and giving to the welfare poor like some kind of Robin Hood. Socialism does fail, it is a terrible system but in no way what Obama seeks to initiate. He definitely has not done a good job, but this smaller government for the sake of smaller government and relaxed attention to corporations being pushed as a platform by Republicans is the wrong way to go about things.

Pure capitalism is just as terrible as pure socialism. We need to eliminate loopholes that allow corporate elite members to hang on to money and bonuses and stimulating income that they do not earn, when its purpose is to be pumped back into their companies for job creation and expansion purposes. To put it in terms of this professor’s metaphor (which is a good one for the dangers of socialism, but not Obama’s economics), imagine having a ton of available extra credit for tests in a very difficult class. Except that extra credit is given to the students with the highest grades. Now, they are lining their GPAs with a gratuitous amount of points. They don’t need to work as hard for the rest of the exams, they inflate their grades well over 100% and leave nothing of the bonuses for the rest of the class  Meanwhile, the students that average in the middle that still work hard as unable to earn the points and have no motivation for the frustrated middle of the class to try for points they know they cannot receive. They have to try fruitlessly to earn high grades, while the students at the top of the class are able to sit back and do less, coasting on their position at the top of the class without keeping up a high level of work.

If enough people get behind it, it could be irreversibly detrimental to thousands of people’s jobs. Think through your ideas, people, and come up with one that doesn’t jeopardize entire industries, businesses that profit from these sales, etc. Imagine owning a record store and having no income for a month, losing your livelihood, maybe your home, being too overwhelmed in an already weak consumer market with expenses that this straw breaks your business.
Once again, people are misdirecting their effort on the industries that provide us with jobs, sacrificing the already unstable economy when the real target of your “movement” should be the government and law makers.
Come on now. When you buy something, all of that money doesn’t straight in, let’s say Viacom’s wallet. Along the way, tons of people rely on that money. Please spread the word that this is a terrible, misdirected effort that could actually do far, far more harm than good.

Alright Obama! It’s time to stop throwing Alice and Wonderland festivals at the White House secretly. Time to stop playing golf every day. Time to stop worrying about your re-election that you obviously won’t get every day. We need to focus on one thing… IRAN. They’re the biggest threat to America right now, and inevitably, they’re evil. If Obama doesn’t do something now, I fear that America will be in turmoil from a cataclysmic attack from Iran.

How dare he throw an event for military families and children for a negligible amount of money. Oh also, he doesn’t golf every day. He hasn’t been campaigning, he’s having a separate group campaign. All of his recent speeches have been on current issues and policy. He’s not riding bus around the country kissing babies. Iran is the biggest threat to America?? No, people who generalize an entire nation to be evil are definitely up there, though.

The biggest threat to America is this kind of ignorant, violent rhetoric. Look, Obama has disappointed me on a serious level, but I’m not about to allow attacks like this on him just because I’m upset with his performance.

As I watch speeches by Romney, Santorum, and the hilariously bitter Newt Gingrich, I can’t help but fail to understand why more people don’t call out this kind of bullshit.

“I think the central issue during this election is freedom.” - Santorum

“[Insert endless tirade of references to blue collar America all whilst vaguely outlining almost no political idealogoies whatsoever beyond essentially beating his chest and shouting “America!”]” - Romney

The mere fact that the suggestion that a vote for these people is a vote for America, a vote for freedom and a vote for our Founding Fathers makes me sick. There’s no mysterious spirit of America that we’ve been missing like some warped Pandora’s box that will magically solve all of our problems. Yet, as these men cite their love of freedom and American values as their platform, they are met with cheers. Cheers that essentially say Obama, Democrats, Liberals, Progressives, Moderates, and basically anyone who isn’t a Modcon, Conservative or Neocon is against freedom and what should be America’s values.

America’s number one value, the one that you gloss over, the one that created this nation and is tragically lost amid the political bullshit is the idea that this is our nation. No one is right, but collectively, this is our nation to build and live within. I’m a progressive, but not in the sense that I think either of these parties have the answer. The only reason I tend to vote democratic (my fiscal beliefs lean conservative, my foreign policy and ethics lean liberal) is because to me, there is a fundamentally disturbing aspect to the conservative, GOP movement. This idea that we are headed in the wrong direction unless they are in charge. It’s a bitter, angry, vindictive stance that causes stalemates politically and vicious rhetoric that poisons this country. The democrats stand idly by, trying to win elections by being less extreme politically, but offering nothing better in return.

This is why I wanted Ron Paul as the candidate. I don’t support him in any way as someone that I want to be president, I want Obama re-elected in 2012, but what I want before that happens is an election that forces him to acknowledge his shortcomings in changing the political system in this country, a promise he made to me, a first time voter, almost four years ago. Four years ago when I campaigned throughout Philadelphia for him, inspired by a breath of fresh air after years of lies and the kind of bullshit that has since dominated this nation’s political discourse.

Then he got elected, fell right into the comfort of the system, the special interest groups, the bickering and the stalemates. Ron Paul is frank, honest and ballsy. He would play devil’s advocate and he wouldn’t allow Obama’s bullshit during a debate or through speeches. He would represent a far right end of the spectrum and point out specifically the areas in which Obama has failed on a fundamental, government basis because that is Paul’s area of concern. His very presence as the antithesis to Obama and what he has become would pull him back out of the muck; the circus of the two party system, and bring him back to not just talking about change to get re-elected, but having to promise to do it to win back voters. The democrats would never let him promise fundamental government change without doing anything about it (he would nail their coffin shut for 4,8, maybe even 12 years).

I guess what I’m saying is that I just want to see a good fight, but Romney is the same cookie cutter GOP shit spewing puppet just trying to win votes that we have seen so many times before. These elections bring out the worst in our politicians, and I might as well accept that we’re in for four more years of pandering.

You don’t have to be a genius to know Rick Perry is a fucking homophobic ludicrous excuse for a human.

Newt Gingrich is leading the pack for your party. Donald Trump is hosting a debate. Your candidates are changing their views daily and jumping through flaming hoops to satisfy voters, your first “leading candidate” was Michelle Bachman, a woman who couldn’t take accurate notes in the margins of her history books, let alone recall facts about the basics of this country’s history. Then you moved on to Herman Cain, a neocon puppet derailed by sexual harassment. Oh, and this son of a bitch in this hate filled horseshit propaganda ad was taken seriously and led the pack at one point. Your political machine, transparent bullshit has gone past my ridicule and earned my hate. Good day to you GOP. I was so hopeful that maybe we’d at least have a race on our hands that would force a candidate to take a serious stance and maybe shake up the system a bit, but here come politics as usual.
